Well, we thought we were funny...

Richard Holmes & Stefan Schwartz formed their comedy double act, The Gruber Brothers, during their time at York University.

They performed their schtick - mostly highly-compressed film parodies - in venues around the North of England and on the streets of York, New York, Edinburgh and Covent Garden.

Gigs in most of London’s comedy clubs followed including semi-regular stints at Jongleurs, The Comedy Store and, on two very sweaty occasions, they walked away unharmed from the notorious Tunnel Club.

Richard & Stefan went on to make short films together which, in turn, led directly to the financing of their first of three feature film collaborations.
